Your friendly neighbourhood punks. Our neighbours lore tells us that berlin punk icons IDEAL recorded their album Der Ernst des Lebens in our print studio basement in 1981. In this day and age where nothing is clear — facts are fiction — fiction is truth — truth is subjective ~ we offer an ode to the truth of the mythical, we keep an IDEAL paper cutter (AKA the guillotine) in the studio, here to cut through the noise. Add a healthy dose of punk/provo-esque anti(&/or)-isms, borrowed from the spirit of Experimental Jetset’s The Power of Three. Add some can-do, child-like naïvety. Cut out a handful of stars and sparkles from the post-internet era we miss and mourn. Shake well. Leave to rest for an indeterminate number of days / weeks / months / years. Eventually, somewhere between making and not-knowing, we begin to understand why we keep returning to print: as a way to read, to make, to write, to reproduce, to cut up and rearrange — until we find some direction we might move towards, backwards, sideways, or begin again.
